Despite thousands of fans trying to get their hands on tickets to the Europa League Final, which will see Rangers FC take on Eintracht Frankfurt, in a match which will be played in Seville’s Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Wednesday 18^th May, one young fan who was lucky enough to score tickets, has decided to use the demand for tickets to raise funds for two separate children’s charities.

Mitchell Carling, aged 14, decided to raffle his two tickets, knowing that the demand was such that he could raise a lot of money for good causes. Mitchell, from Dundee, who now lives in Dubai with his family, has selected Type-1 Diabetes research charity, JDRF, and Caudwell Children, a charity founded to support the lives of disabled and autistic children in the UK.

Speaking of his decision to raffle the tickets Mitchell commented; “When I told my friends about the tickets, I suddenly became the most popular guy at school, that’s when I knew how valuable the tickets were. As a football fan from Scotland, occasions like this don’t come around very often, and I saw the amount of money people were willing to spend just to get a ticket. I wanted to use my tickets to raise some money for charity. The two charities I have picked are close to our family; JDRF because of the support they gave my little sister when she was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes, and Caudwell Children because we have seen the work they do and how many people they help. By raffling the tickets, everyone has the same chance of getting the tickets, and the charities should get a lot of money.”

Mitchell has set up an online raffle on charity website Crowdfunder, with tickets priced £20.00. The draw is open until 6pm on Sunday 15^th May, with the winner announced immediately to allow time for travel arrangements.
